Overview of Provence

From your very first sight of Provence, it will be hard not to fall in love with this region. With its picture-perfect landscapes of Verdant Hills and vineyards, quaint villages clinging to the sides of mountains, ancient ruins and rolling fields filled with lavender and sunflowers, it’s no wonder why artists such as Van Gogh and Cezanne took such inspiration from this beautiful region.

Provence is a classic French destination with a relaxed lifestyle. Local wine is sipped in inviting street-corner cafes, with stunning scenery and charm.

Things to Do in Provence

The historic Provence region has been enchanting visitors from across the globe for countless years, and it’s not hard to see why. From the appealing baroque architecture and elegant fountain-lined boulevards of Aix-en-Provence to the famous hilltop villages of the Luberon, culture and scenery enthusiasts find themselves returning to this captivating region time and time again.

There is so much to see and do in Provence that it can be hard to decide where to stay. Our luxury Provence villas are all ideally located to allow you to explore every inch of this spectacular area.

You might choose to spend your days hiking and biking through the many scenic trails and circuits of this French region or strolling through the cobbled streets browsing the markets and enjoying the unique cuisine.

Local dishes to try during your stay in Provence include Brandade de Morue, a delicious fish dish. The traditional meal is made up of salt cod, and olive oil served with bread or potatoes. It’s a hearty, comforting dish to eat. If you like your stews, look out for Daube on the menu. It’s a beef stew cooked in wine. If you enjoy vegetables, you must try French Ratatouille which is traditionally served with bread.

You can’t visit France without visiting a local vineyard or sampling the local wines. Provence has numerous vineyards that surround the region, which are all famous for the delicious rosé wine. You could even bring a bottle back to your villa in Provence to sit outside and enjoy a glass with the sun setting in the background.
